Handcrafted by the master leather artisans at Max Capdebarthes in the 12th-century village of Sauveterre de Rouergue, this sleeve is made from premium, ultra-soft 1/16-inch thick full-grain cowhide. Double-stitched at all stress areas, it is engineered to provide years of reliable use without stitch failure while developing a beautiful, unique patina over time.
A Versatile Custom Fit: Designed with a generous 4.3 cm (1.69") wide slit opening, this sheath comfortably accommodates any 12 cm to 13 cm folding knife (4.72" to 5.12" handle lengths). Not only does it provide an excellent, snug fit for your full-sized Laguiole and classic French regional knives, but it is also perfectly dimensioned to house traditional waiter-style corkscrews, including models from Chateau Laguiole and Forge de Laguiole. (Note: Pictured knives and corkscrews are not included.)
Unlike bulkier belt sheaths, the Poche Visite is explicitly designed as a minimalist pocket slip. This leather is sourced from the top layer of the hide, retaining all its natural grain and unique characteristics. While full-grain leather is more costly and demands exceptional skill to craft, it provides unmatched durability and aging potential.
Your new sheath may appear to be a little stiff at first; this is normal. As full-grain leather ages, it will adapt to the shape of your knife. Over time, the sheath will develop a much sought-after patina and a unique character that cannot be duplicated. The more you use it, the better it will look and feel.
The beauty of your leather sheath is only matched by its durability. To keep it looking like new, avoid exposure to sun and water for long periods as this can cause fading and cracks over time. Cleaning isn't enough—periodically apply a premium leather conditioner to maintain its suppleness.
