Fontenille Pataud Steak Knives
Table Specialties
WE ARE TRUSTED BY SOME OF THE WORLD'S BEST CORPORATIONS Offer your employees, customers or business partners a memorable and useful gift.
Handcrafted in Thiers-France, this knife was approved by the "Coute de Tie," the Guild, which certifies the authenticity of the design. The name “Le Thiers ® Gentleman by Fontenille Pataud” is a tribute to the city of Thiers. Like Solingen in Germany or Sheffield in England, Thiers has, for several centuries, been the hub of the French knives and cutlery industry.
Le Thiers® Gentleman by Fontenille Pataud offers a good balance between the blade and the handle thanks to its special forged spring. A groove into the back of the spring allows the blade to fold in. Le Thiers ® Gentleman by Fontenille Pataud provides a secure locking blade, a smooth mechanism, and a solid blade stop to protect the blade's edge.
Technical aspects: Smooth, easy opening & closing are provided by a Teflon-assisted lock-back system. This knife also features a solid hardened blade stop to help prevent the blade's edge from making contact with the inner area of the spring.
Shopping for a unique pocket knife not only holds the promise of ownership but the excitement of finally beholding an item admired through a screen. However, all too often, what was envisioned and what is unboxed bear a startling, sometimes painful discrepancy.
You will receive the actual folding knife shown in the photos.
No one wants to view photos of a beautiful and unique knife and receive something not even close to the representative image; this is why we take pictures of each piece. Select your One-Of-A-Kind knife!
Things to Look For
The file work on the springs (top of handle) are individually hand filled by a French artisan, therefore all are different. Additionally, two handles made from the same material can have very different patterns.

Snakewood aka Amourette (Brosimum guianense) is a gorgeous wood that originates mostly from Brazil's Suriname valley.
The part sold as snakewood is really the heartwood of the much larger tree. This wood is usually felled with axes and carried on the backs of natives over streams and through jungle areas.
Each tree felled is monitored, the Brazilian government has developed a strict permit process to control harvesting. The name was inspired by the snakeskin-like markings that decorate this exotic wood.
Initially deep red in color, snakewood changes color upon being exposed to air, making the wood eventually turn reddish-brown, as you see it today.
East Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) is native of India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.
All rosewood species, regardless of origin, are highly regulated by both exporting and importing countries.
Pocket knives are shipped same business day from Florida when ordered by 4 PM Eastern time. UPS delivery can be expected in 1 to 3 business days depending on destination. International shipping options are available at checkout.
