How could one corkscrew be so amazingly different than another, you ask? The Laguiole Magnum Olive Wood we bought changed everything I thought about corkscrews. Not only is it a unique work of art, it functions so well it made me realize their are a whole bunch of things I never even realized I didn't like about previous corkscrews I've had. The unique body shape fits ergonomically to the hand, the foil cutter cuts a smooth slice with little pressure (none of that serrated ripping), the corkscrew moves through a cork like butter (even the fake plastic ones), and the one-piece 2-step boot lever is a revelation both for its lack of a hinge (so many pinched fingers on loose swivels on previous corkscrews!) and for how easily it pulls the cork with the longer arm. I know this sounds like a paid review, but it's not. We use this every day and we love it! Plus, I messed up the (free) engraving when I ordered it; emailed later that night and heard back right away that they were on top of it, changed to the right engraving, and still sent it out the next day to arrive by Christmas.
