Laguiole Traditional Knife 12 cm Guilloche Amboyna Burl

1 left in stock - Order now.

The Laguiole knife originated in the small village of Laguiole, France, in the early 1820s. It later saw manufacturing expand to the industrialized city of Thiers, France—the location of this knife's creation.

This knife is handcrafted in Thiers, known as Europe's cutlery capital, and is part of the prestigious "Gilles®" Fontenille Pataud collection. These knives are highly regarded for their exceptional quality and value. Each piece is meticulously crafted by a single artisan, guaranteeing a sense of pride and exclusivity.

Technical aspects:This 12 cm Laguiole folding knife boasts a forged bee, an intricately hand-chiseled spring, and the renowned shepherd's cross on most models (refer to the photo). Additionally, it includes a sturdy blade stop to prevent the blade's edge from contacting the spring's inner area.

Guilloche: The Guilloché series showcases intricate craftsmanship on the spring, both upper and lower liners and the entire upper edge of the blade.

What is a Forged Bee? You can identify a forged bee by examining its connection to the ornate spring. The absence of gaps indicates that the bee and spring were crafted from a single metal piece. On the other hand, a soldered bee can be recognized by a distinct straight gap or ridge where it joins the spring.

Most affordable Laguiole pocket knives on the market feature a soldered bee. Utilizing soldering to attach the bee to the spring is cost-effective and time-saving, resulting in significantly lower prices for these knives. In contrast, the original Laguiole knives were crafted with forged bees.

You will receive the actual folding knife shown in the photos.
No one wants to view photos of a beautiful and unique knife and receive something not even close to the representative image; this is why we take pictures of each piece. Select your One-Of-A-Kind knife!

Things to Look For
The file work on the springs (top of handle) are individually hand filled by a French artisan, therefore all are different. Additionally, two handles made from the same material can have very different patterns.
