After years of planning, a bold version of the classic Laguiole corkscrew has finally reached the wine industry. This long-awaited super high-end Laguiole waiter's corkscrew features a patented one-piece two-step boot lever, a forged one-piece spring & bee, and a non-serrated foil cutter to facilitate sharpening.

What sets this tool apart from all others, including non-Laguiole corkscrews, is its size and ergonomics. At 5.6 oz, it is not a lightweight tool, but it feels surprisingly good in any size hands, male or female. This pure luxury object is taking over the two-step corkscrew business, and of course, it is 100% Made in France.

The Magnums are entirely handmade in Europe's capital of cutlery, "Thiers." The “Gilles®” Fontenille Pataud collections of cutlery are considered by many to be some of the best money can buy. Gilles's items are entirely made by a single craftsman from start to finish, ensuring pride of ownership of the final piece.

Handle Material: Snakewood aka Amourette (Brosimum guianense). This gorgeous wood originates mostly in Brazil's Suriname valley.
The part sold as snakewood is really the heartwood of the larger tree. This wood is usually felled with axes and carried on the backs of natives over streams and through snake-infested jungle areas.
Each tree felled is monitored, and the Brazilian government has developed a strict permit process to control harvesting. The name was inspired by the snakeskin-like markings that decorate this exotic wood.
Initially deep red in color, snakewood changes color upon being exposed to air, making the wood eventually turn reddish-brown, as you see it today.

What is a Forged Bee? You can recognize a forged bee when you look just below it, where it meets the decorated spring. If you do not see any gaps, it's a good sign that the bee and spring were forged from the same metal piece. You can also recognize a soldered bee by noticing a straight gap/ridge where the bee meets the spring.
