Fontenille Pataud's Laguiole steak knives are crafted to perfection, representing the pinnacle of European blade-making. These knives are unique among Laguiole table cutlery, as each is manufactured from a single cold-forged metal rod of high-grade Z40C13 stainless steel. This specialized "monoblock" construction ensures exceptional durability and a seamless, weighted feel that speaks to the highest level of artistry.
Individual Photography: Because Fossilized Mammoth Tooth is a complex organic material with a unique geological character, we provide high-resolution photography for every individual set. The set pictured is exactly the one you will receive. This transparency ensures that the specific mineral patterns and the sophisticated balance of turquoise and cream tones you select will grace your collection.
Handle Character: This extraordinary set features handles crafted from Fossilized Woolly Mammoth Tooth. Dating back over 10,000 years, the tooth is composed of naturally hardened enamel layers that create a striking, rhythmic cross-section pattern. This model features a specialized Turquoise & Cream stabilization; the vibrant turquoise resin fills the prehistoric voids of the tooth, providing a brilliant contrast against the natural, ivory-like cream layers of the ancient enamel. Polished to a glass-smooth finish, these handles are as durable as they are visually arresting.
Expertly detailed with traditional hand-filed designs (ciselage) along the spring, every knife is crafted entirely by a single master craftsman in Thiers—Europe's historic cutlery capital. This "one artisan, one knife" process delivers a unique product that offers a feast for both the eyes and the senses.

You need to know
15,000+ years old fossilized mammoth molar tooth harvested in Siberia.
The molar is stabilized for strength and dyed in various colors, some of which are quite stunning. In most cases only one color dye is used to create a handle plate, the variance in colors within a handle is caused by the ability of certain areas of the tooth (i.e enamel) to absorb the color dye.
Mammoth molar is an extremely hard material because of its enamel layers, in most cases diamond cutting tools are required to cut it.
Fossilized Mammoth Tooth Certificate Included
