The Corsican L' Antò by Gilles® Fontenille Pataud is a soulful homage to the traditional knives of the Isle of Beauty. Designed in collaboration with Corsican blacksmith Antoine Zuria, this model blends Mediterranean heritage with modern precision engineering. Handcrafted in Thiers—the historic heart of French cutlery—each knife is meticulously created from start to finish by a single master artisan. Proudly 100% Made in France.
Handle Character: This model features genuine Teak (Teck) scales. Renowned for its incredible durability and natural resistance to moisture, Teak offers a straight grain and a warm, golden-brown hue. It provides a rugged yet refined feel that stands up exceptionally well to daily use. The knife pictured is the exact one you will receive.
Lock-Top Mechanism: The Lock-Top system is designed for both security and comfort. The mechanism is slightly curved to feel ergonomic under the thumb, while the intricate file work on each side provides a confident, tactile grip. To unlock the blade, we recommend simply sliding your thumbnail under the gap for the most efficient and safe operation. Inside the handle, Teflon washers ensure silky-smooth deployment, while a hardened blade stop prevents the edge from ever contacting the internal spring.

The file work on the springs (top of handle) are individually hand filled by a French artisan, therefore all are different. Additionally, two handles made from the same material can have very different patterns.

Smooth, easy opening & closing is provided by a Teflon-assisted Top-Lock system. This knife also features a solid hardened blade stop to help prevent the blade's edge from making contact with the inner area of the spring.
