Classic Laguiole Corkscrew Knife Dark Ram Horn Handle

1 - In Stock

The Classic Laguiole Corkscrew Knife, traditionally known as the "Laguiole 2-piece," carries a rich history dating back to the 1880s. As corked wine bottles gained popularity in urban French society, Aveyronnais workers who migrated to the cafes of Paris requested this specialized addition to their traditional pocket knives. Today, it remains the ultimate "picnic knife," blending heritage utility with artisanal luxury.

Handcrafted in Thiers—the historic heart of French cutlery—each knife is meticulously created from start to finish by a single master artisan at the Gilles® Fontenille Pataud workshop. This 12 cm model is designed for both pocket comfort and table utility, frequently serving as a personal steak knife at the dinner table. Proudly 100% Made in France.

Handle Character: This model features scales of genuine Dark Ram Horn (Bélier Noir). This material displays a striking range of deep charcoal, slate, and chocolate tones, often with the characteristic ribbed texture of the horn partially visible. It provides a rugged, powerful aesthetic and an exceptionally tactile feel in the hand. The knife pictured is the exact one you will receive.

Hand-Chiseled Artistry: A hallmark of the Gilles® collection, each knife features a hand-filed spring top and the iconic Laguiole Bee. This intricate decorative work is performed by a master cutler using traditional files, ensuring that no two knives are exactly alike. Inside the handle, a hardened blade stop is built into the mechanism to preserve the edge's sharpness by preventing any contact with the inner spring upon closing.

Dark Ram horn tip (France).

Dark ram ram horn is the most coveted and hardest to find as most Rams have lighter horns.

Due to the uneven characteristic of Ram Horn, the metal rivets found on the handle may not be completely flush with this unique handle material.

Fontenille Pataud Classic Laguiole Corkscrew Knives

Pocket Knife

Pocket Knives are designed for cutting only. Please do not use it as a screwdriver, crowbar, or wood chisel, as this can cause irreversible damage and void the warranty.

Corkscrews

Important Note on Use: Waiter-style corkscrews are designed for use with a secure grip on the bottle neck. Please do not use the tool by clamping the bottle between your knees and pulling the handle. This technique often applies excessive force, which is likely to bend the screw (worm) and will immediately void the product warranty.

To keep your pocket knife or corkscrew in top condition, follow these maintenance tips:

  1. Lubricate Moving Parts: Periodically apply a few drops of lubricant to all moving parts. This ensures smooth operation and extends the life of your knife.
  2. Hand Wash Only: Always hand-wash your pocket knife. After washing, dry it quickly with a soft towel to prevent rust and corrosion.
  3. Recommended Lubricant: We highly recommend using Sentry-Solutions Tuf Glide for all our folding knives. It provides excellent lubrication and protection.

Important Note: Tuf Glide is not considered a "food-safe" product. Avoid using it on knives that come into contact with food.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your item remains reliable and ready for your next adventure.
