The Chateau Laguiole® Grand Cru series was created to meet the rigorous demands of professional wine service. While maintaining the elegant silhouette of the original 1993 design found in the Classic Collection, the Grand Cru models feature reinforced heavy-duty bolsters and a more robust construction designed to uncork over 20 bottles a day for years of service. Like every authentic Chateau Laguiole, this piece is 100% Made in France.

Handle Character: This Grand Cru model features a handle crafted from rare Karelian Birch (also known as Masur Birch). Highly prized in luxury cutlery and woodworking, Karelian Birch is famous for its unique "marbled" or "flamed" appearance. The wood displays a warm, honey-colored background punctuated by distinctive dark grain flecks and wavy patterns, ensuring that no two handles are ever identical. Hand-finished to a smooth, silky luster, this dense wood provides a sturdy, comfortable grip and offers a sophisticated, organic aesthetic for the sommelier who appreciates rare natural materials.

Karelian Birch AKA Masur Birch. This birch is not a particular species but is a praised grain figure that is most commonly fond in Downy Birch and Silver Birch. (Harvested in Finland). This Birch is commonly used for turned objects, decorative veneer, knife handles, and other small specialty items.

Since 2020 all genuine Château Laguiole corkscrews come with a registration card to be validated online. This is the only assurance of their authenticity and warranty.
