The Chateau Laguiole Versailles collection pays tribute to the historic specimen trees that once graced the famous gardens of the Château de Versailles. Originally imported from around the world during the late 18th century as part of the major garden restoration ordered by Louis XVI, many of these centuries-old trees stood until the historic storm of December 26, 1999. This exquisite collection honors that botanical legacy through fine craftsmanship and historic wood species.
All Versailles series corkscrews are proudly adorned with a Fleur de Lys—the traditional symbol of French royalty representing perfection, light, and life. Additionally, this series is presented with a signature blue leather sheath. Bleu de France (Blue of France) has represented the French monarchy and heritage since the early 12th century.
Created in 1993 by Master Sommelier Guy Vialis, the Chateau Laguiole waiter-style corkscrew was the first high-end Laguiole corkscrew on the market. Since its debut, Chateau Laguiole has remained the preferred choice among the world's best sommeliers and stands as the most iconic waiter-style wine opener in history. Every genuine Chateau Laguiole corkscrew is 100% Made in France.
Crafted from rare and striking Thuya wood (Cupressaceae), this handle honors the centuries-old Thuya trees planted in the Versailles gardens between 1776 and 1778. Prized for its dense, intricate burl patterns and rich aromatic heartwood, Thuya is native to northwestern Africa and has been celebrated in fine woodworking since antiquity. This model serves as a lasting tribute to the historic 221-year-old specimen that stood at Versailles until the storm of 1999.
All Chateau Laguiole wine openers are made of 12C27 stainless steel and weigh around 4 oz (113 grams). The overall length closed is 4.5 inches (11.40 cm).
The foils cutter is serrated and measures 1.5/8 inches ~ 4.06 cm).
"I firmly believe that the tool employed to uncork an exquisite bottle of wine should embody the same level of perfection as the individuals who crafted it."

Good quality and service!
This is my second purchase with the company. I don’t usually write reviews, but. The quality of the products, exceptional, what you would expect from a luxury purchase. The service from purchase to delivery on your doorstep, first rate. Service here is superb. Rest assured you will receive a quality piece, at a reasonable price point, from a legit dealer. Hope this helps in someone’s decision. I love booth of my purchases and look forward to others.
I don't know that I've ever had the caliber of customer service I got from the folks at Laguiole Imports. There was a particular type of effect that I loved in a certain wood grain (amboyna burl) in the corkscrews.. The one I wanted was already sold. Instead of just telling me to order a different choice, the company contacted the craftsman in France to see if he had another piece of wood that matched exactly the effect I wanted. And he did. And he made a variety of new corkscrews incorporating this color differential that I was so crazy about. Then customer service sent me pictures to look at as soon as the new corkscrews were in house. It was not exactly a "custom order," but darned close. I wish all the companies of the world could clone these wonderful, responsive, uber-professional customer service reps, Danielle in particular, who was my point person. It's so rare to have a product so extraordinary backed up by professionals of this dedicated caliber. I give them and their products my very highest recommendation. --Richard in Portland, Oregon
Yes, this is an expensive corkscrew. But it’s heirloom quality, so why not splurge?
