I had always talked of the Laguiole opener. My wife surprised me at Christmas. It works as well as any but looks and feels completely different. The only issue is the grip on the arm that sometimes slips on the bottle neck.

Crafted from prestigious Yew wood (Taxus baccata), this handle pays homage to the ancient Yew trees that shaded the royal Bosquets (the formal garden groves) of Versailles. Planted during the royal garden restructuring between 1776 and 1778, Yew is revered for its extraordinary density, silky luster, and fine, tight grain that transitions from warm golden-orange to rich auburn. This model serves as a lasting tribute to the historic 223-year-old Yew specimens that stood on the palace grounds until the storm of 1999.
All Chateau Laguiole wine openers are made of 12C27 stainless steel and weigh around 4 oz (113 grams). The overall length closed is 4.5 inches (11.40 cm).

Important Note on Use: Waiter-style corkscrews are designed for use with a secure grip on the bottle neck. Please do not use the tool by clamping the bottle between your knees and pulling the handle. This technique often applies excessive force, which is likely to bend the screw (worm) and will immediately void the product warranty.
