Crafted in the historic village of Laguiole, France (population 1,300), this exceptional Forge de Laguiole 12 cm pocket knife represents the absolute pinnacle of French cutlery. Staying true to the brand's uncompromising ethics, every single knife is manufactured from start to finish by a single master cutler—ensuring each piece is a unique testament to its maker's craftsmanship. The 12 cm size (approx. 8 ¾" open) is incredibly versatile, making it the perfect everyday carry (EDC) companion and an elegant alternative to a traditional steak knife at the dinner table.
Handle Character: This specific model features a handle crafted from rare Thuya Wood (Tetraclinis articulata), imported directly from the Atlas Mountain region of Morocco in North Africa. Celebrated for its mesmerizing "bird's-eye" burl and swirling grain, Thuya is a dense, highly aromatic wood that offers a rich, golden-brown luster. The handle is further detailed with the iconic Shepherd's Cross, a hallmark of traditional Laguiole heritage.
Unlike standard stainless steel, this model honors the roots of French knife-making with a high-carbon steel blade. Favored by purists, carbon steel offers unmatched cutting strength and is significantly easier to sharpen. Because carbon steel does not contain chromium, it will naturally develop a beautiful, protective patina over time. Care Note: Always dry the blade immediately after use and regularly apply a drop of food-grade mineral oil to protect the metal from moisture.
This model proudly features a true Forged Bee and Spring. Unlike lesser knives where the bee is soldered on, the bee and the decorated spring on this Forge de Laguiole are hot-forged from a single, continuous piece of metal, ensuring superior structural integrity and a flawless aesthetic.

Avoid leaving your carbon blade knife in damp environments for too long. Place a little food-grade mineral oil on all metal parts regularly. Dry the blade using a dry cloth after each use. Carbon knife blades are made using steels with a high carbon content, which is what makes it possible to achieve excellent hardness after heat treatment, guaranteeing the strength of the cutting edge, resistance to wear, and easy of sharpening. The hardness obtained after heat treatment are theoretically slightly greater in steels that do not contain chrome. The cutting strength is, therefore, better with a Carbon steel knife and sharpening is much easier than stainless steel blades that contain chrome. However, Carbon has a low resistance to corrosion caused by moisture, which means that certain precautionary measures are necessary when using and storing Carbon knives: we recommend that you avoid damp environments and that you dry the blade after each use.
We Recommend the use of Tuf-Glide Oil-Free Lubricant 1/4 oz Pen. Periodically place a couple of drops of lubricant on the axle of all moving parts.
