Laguiole Forged Steak Knives Studded Desert Ironwood - Set of 2

Fontenille Pataud's Laguiole steak knives are crafted to perfection, representing the pinnacle of European blade-making. These knives are unique among Laguiole table cutlery, as each is manufactured from a single cold-forged metal rod of high-grade Z40C13 stainless steel. This specialized "monoblock" construction ensures exceptional durability and a seamless, weighted feel that speaks to the highest level of artistry.

Handle Character: This set of two knives features handles crafted from genuine Desert Ironwood, further elevated by traditional stainless steel studs (mosaics) hand-set into the wood. Desert Ironwood is one of the densest and rarest woods on Earth, known for its incredible stability and rich, shimmering grain that ranges from golden amber to deep chocolate brown. The addition of the studs provides a classic, decorative touch that pays homage to traditional French folding knife aesthetics while offering a tactile, premium feel.

Expertly detailed with traditional hand-filed designs (ciselage) along the spring, every knife is crafted entirely by a single master craftsman in Thiers—Europe's historic cutlery capital. This "one artisan, one knife" process delivers a unique product that offers a feast for both the eyes and the senses.

Desert Ironwood (Olneya tesota) - World hardest wood and one of the most difficult to work with due to its density. Color ranges from an orangish-yellow to a darker red or brown, with darker violet to black streaks. Some pieces may be almost entirely black. Harvested in Central America.

Studded Work: Stainless Steel needles/studs inlay are each inserted and cut by hand. This stunning diamond-shaped artwork is exceptionally time-consuming and can only be carried out by Fontenille Pataud's most skilled artisans.
