The Yssingeaux (pronounced "e seɪn jo") is named after its birthplace of "Yssingeaux" a village in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The version of the knife you see today was baptized Yssingeaux around 1920 but was also found in slightly different formats since the late 1800s under the name ""Issoire", "Bourbonnais (1890)", "Façon Chabrol (1908)" and "Le Basque (1912)". Today, Fontenille Pataud also offers a slightly, more contemporary version of this knife that features a lock back system named "5 Coqs".
Collector Series: This exclusive model features a Damascus blade and a hand-filed spiraled handles treaded with solid sterling silver.
Technical aspects: This knife features a solid hardened blade stop to help prevent the blade's edge from making contact with the inner area of the spring. This knife's handle is progressively wider toward the bottom. This characteristic provides a safer grip.
Handle Material: Horn Tip from domestic cattle. The tip of the horn is the hardest and most durable, Inferior horn handles are made from the bottom of the horn which will warp with time.
