Max Capdebarthes is a master leather craftsman located in the tiny (pop. 800) 12th-century village of Sauveterre de Rouergue in the southwest of France. Note that although irrelevant to the purchase of a knife sheath, it is worth noting that Sauveterre de Rouergue was voted "one of the most beautiful villages of France".
Each sheath is made from carefully selected genuine cowhide. Mr. Max Capdebarthes is considered by most knife manufacturers as the best leather craftsman in Europe, perhaps the world.
Many acclaimed cutlers, such as Forge de Laguiole and Fontenille Pataud, contracts Max for their needs.
About this sheath: This full grain leather sheath is designed to hold any 11 & 12 cm knives (4. 1/4" - 4. 3/4" handle length size). It features a metal snap closure, and a 1.3/8 " horizontal belt loop.
Double stitching can be found on all stress areas to provide years of use without stitch failure. This sheath is made of 1/8 inch thick ultra-soft cowhide full-grain leather. Pictured Knife not included.
